About The On Being Project

The On Being Project is a nonprofit media and public life enterprise dedicated to social healing. Our mission is to pursue deep thinking and moral imagination, social courage and joy, to renew inner life, outer life, and life together. We are an enterprise with a story, an ethos, and a theory of change. We believe that the people and projects who turn to our work are healing our world and renewing common life for this century, and we are called to nourish, embolden, and accompany them ever more deeply.

Our foundational public radio show and podcast, On Being with Krista Tippett, has been downloaded and played over 300 million times and is broadcast on 400 public radio stations in the US. Our newest podcast, Poetry Unbound, has been downloaded and played over 4.5 million times in three seasons. Our Civil Conversations & Social Healing work inspires and resources initiatives, communities, and individuals around the world. Our newest offering, the On Being Wisdom app, presents teaching, practice, and a community of accompaniment for rising to the highest callings of this moment in the life of the world.

The Opportunity

The Production Assistant (PA) plays a central role in the On Being Studios team in supporting our production process, publishing our audio content each week across multiple platforms, and coordinating the systems and workflows for distributing and tracking our work.
The PA will work at the direction of our Senior Producers, Producers/Technical Directors, Producer, and Art Director to prepare and deploy content across our media platforms, including public radio, podcast, app, and website.

Those platforms include Simplecast, Content Depot, Wordpress, iTunes, Strapi content management system, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Monday.com.

We don’t imagine that the incoming PA is an expert in all of these platforms, but rather they have experience in detail-oriented data entry in a digital media environment, and are skilled at and excited to learn new technologies and back-end platforms.

Additionally, as part of our culture of collaboration in the weekly production of On Being, the Production Assistant will contribute to editorial conversations and widen our lens of perspectives and voices of diverse identities. This is an opportunity to be part of the editorial process, but this is not primarily an editorial role.

Our Identity & Workplace

The On Being Project consists of three teams: On Being Studios produces content and creative direction across audio, video, and print; our Social Healing team is focused on growing and deepening engagement directly with individuals and communities towards social repair and transformation; and Operations & Vitality secures the resources and supports the infrastructure that allows us to thrive.

Our work is about joining inner life with outer presence in the world. As an organization, we strive to embody what we transmit to the world, believing that “what we practice, we become.” For over three years, we have engaged an external partner in our iteration of a DEI process, our Placemaking Initiative. The process that has unfolded is woven through our organizational life in an ongoing way, including training, individual and team coaching, and specific projects that help us make Placemaking a daily, lived practice. Everyone at The On Being Project shares this commitment.
